International Welcome Ambassador Program Participation Agreement
This agreement is entered into by and between the International Center (hereinafter referred to as “CPIC”) of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo (hereinafter referred to as "CAL POLY") and the student who provides their signature on this agreement (hereinafter referred to as “Student”).
Please read through this agreement and electronically submit your signature at the bottom of the page indicating that you have read and understand the conditions.
CAL POLY and Student agree as follows:
Participation in the International Welcome Ambassadors Program, hereinafter referred to as “IWA Program”, is VOLUNTARY. CPIC also reserves the right to terminate this agreement and Student’s participation in the Poly Pals Program for any reason at any time.
Selection and Participation
After successfully completing the online application and passing the interview stage, Student must satisfactorily complete the following:
- Consent to an academic standing check ran through the International Center
- Consent to a disciplinary review by the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities
- Complete the Volunteer Identification Form (HR-V1)
- Complete the online Defensive Driver Training (DDT) if in possession of a valid Driver’s License*
*Student is not required to drive within this program. However, if Student has a valid driver’s license, they will be expected to complete this training in the event that they do decide to drive during their participation in the IWA Program.
Requirements of Academic and Disciplinary Standing
Criteria for selection will include satisfactory disciplinary and academic standing.
I understand that my student academic and disciplinary records will be accessed and reviewed by a CPIC staff member and that my eligibility to participate in the program may be revoked by CAL POLY for failure to uphold good disciplinary standing. I also acknowledge that I have not been found responsible for a serious conduct violation within the last calendar year. A serious conduct violation may include, but is not limited to, assault, illegal drug use, multiple alcohol violations, academic misconduct, violence, stalking, theft, and vandalism.
By executing this Student Participation Agreement, Student shall follow the expectations outlined below:
- Answer emails from CPIC in a timely manner
- Respond in a timely manner to international student inquiries
- Refer international students to appropriate resources
- Not advise on visa regulations
- Not advise on employment
- Not advise on academics
- Not attempt to convert international students from one religion, belief, or opinion to another (proselytizing)
- Act within accordance of the Student Conduct Policies, outlined by the Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities
Alcohol Use Policy
IWA Program participants of legal drinking age are permitted to consume alcohol in accordance with the United States laws as well as the Alcohol Policy of CAL POLY. However, no alcohol is to be provided at any of the IWA Program-affiliated events.
Standards of Conduct
I understand that as an International Welcome Ambassador, I am representing CPIC and CAL POLY to international students. I recognize that behavior which violates California State University’s Student Conduct Standards could harm CAL POLY’S reputation and the wellbeing of the international student participants, as well as my own health and safety. I will become informed of, and will abide by the Student Conduct Standards outlined above.
I acknowledge and understand that any violation of the above standards of conduct, could lead to sanctions being imposed on me that are consistent with CSU Student Discipline Policies and Procedures, including, but not limited expulsion from the program. I understand that serious student misconduct violations could be reported to the CAL POLY Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities.
Procedures and Policy on Program Withdrawal
Student shall notify the CPIC of any intentions to either withdraw or change the period of time they plan to participate in the IWA Program.
This Agreement contains the sole and entire agreement between CPIC and Student and shall supersede any and all other agreements between the parties. CPIC and Student acknowledge and agree that any statements or representations that may have, heretofore, been made by either of them has relied thereon in connection with his or her or its dealings with other.
